Orbs

For many years i’ve been reading and painting about meditation, but never created the habit of doing it. I really thought it could be a beneficial tool for me to be more responsive instead of reactive in my life and Art.

These paintings are representative of me taking the meditation practice a step further. I did one of these each day for the month. Take an intention, keep it present in my mind, if i got lost in thought while painting i would use my breath to create capacity and bring me back to the intention.

This series inspired me to consciously create habit of a meditation outside of my art. I wake up each morning, before my food or coffee, sit on my little piece of peace: a pouf on my front porch, even if its just for a moment of solitude.

I start with an intention usually based on a mantra word; gratitude, love, compassion, or non judgement.

These visual meditations are teachers. After beginning a meditative practice, I noticed I was able to be more present with people through out the day, which is something I strive towards. These paintings help me create more capacity within myself to embody my daily mantra.

Now Meditation is a consistent practice of mine.
